How FourSix46® Decides Which Ventures Actually Get Built

Stack46, Cinevenn, 46 Dogs and Route46 weren't chosen from a scoring matrix. Here's the actual reasoning behind each of the four ventures FourSix46® decided to build.

People ask me some version of the same question fairly often: how did you land on these four ventures specifically — Stack46, Cinevenn, 46 Dogs, Route46 — out of everything you could have built? I don't have a framework I can hand over as a slide. What I have is the actual reasoning behind each of the four, which is more honest than a generic "how we evaluate opportunities" post would be.

It starts with what I could actually build myself

Stack46 exists because software development is what I actually do. I have an MSc in Information Technology from Cardiff Metropolitan University, and building software is the skill I could put to work immediately, without waiting on anyone else, the moment FourSix46® Global Ltd existed. It's the technology layer underneath everything else — Cinevenn, 46 Dogs and Route46 all get built using the same engineering discipline Stack46 represents. Starting with the venture I could execute myself, rather than the venture that sounded most impressive, was the actual first decision, and every venture after it had to justify itself against that same standard: can this actually get built, by the resources I actually have, not the resources I wish I had.

Cinevenn: a problem I understood personally

Cinevenn — digital infrastructure for the global film industry — didn't come from market research. It came from watching how disconnected and informal networking is inside the film industry, particularly around how people find collaborators and get discovered. Phase 1 targets India specifically, not because the problem doesn't exist elsewhere, but because that's the market I could realistically understand and reach first. Cinevenn is still pre-launch — there's no live product, no users, no metrics — because building digital infrastructure properly, on Next.js, React, FastAPI, MySQL, WebSockets, Docker, Nginx and AWS, takes real time, and I'd rather it launch correctly than launch early.

46 Dogs: the one that isn't justified by opportunity at all

46 Dogs is the clearest exception to "does this make commercial sense," because it doesn't, and it isn't supposed to. It exists because street dogs in India need someone to feed them consistently, and because I decided FourSix46®'s commercial ventures should fund something that has no commercial logic of its own — deliberately, so that decisions about feeding, rescue and rehoming are never shaped by what's profitable. If I were purely optimising the venture portfolio for return, 46 Dogs wouldn't be in it. It's in it because the portfolio isn't only optimised for return.

Route46: infrastructure that already existed

Route46 Couriers is different again — it's a UK courier and logistics service, live since 2025, whose frontend was inherited from a previous organisation and then enhanced and re-deployed by Stack46, rather than built from scratch. That's an important distinction in how it got chosen: Route46 wasn't dreamed up as an idea and then built. It was existing infrastructure that fit naturally into the logistics category I already wanted FourSix46® to operate in, and that Stack46 had the actual capability to take over and improve properly. Sometimes the decision to build a venture is really a decision to take over something real and make it better, rather than starting from zero.

A venture earns its place by what it needs from you, not by how it sounds out loud.

What actually filters ideas out

I have plenty of ideas that aren't ventures. The filter isn't really "is this a good idea" — most ideas are defensible on paper. The filter is closer to: can Stack46 actually build this with the team we have (a founder, one developer, one tester, right now); does it fit inside one of the categories I've already committed the brand architecture to — technology, systems, digital infrastructure, logistics, in that fixed order; and am I willing to run it publicly, under FourSix46®'s name, with the same honesty standard as everything else on this site, including saying plainly when it isn't live yet or has no users yet.

Most ideas fail one of those three tests, usually the first one. I'd rather have four ventures actually being built properly than ten I'm only building in name. That's really the whole decision logic — not a scoring matrix, just a repeated check against what's actually true about our capacity, our stated architecture, and our willingness to be honest about where each one actually stands.
