I've written before about why 46 Dogs has no business model and never will. This post is the other half — what 46 Dogs actually is, as a piece of software, and what it's built to do.
46 Dogs is part of FourSix46®. It's a street-dog rescue and welfare registry platform, and its mission is feeding-first, which is a deliberate ordering, not a marketing line. The landing page at 46dogs.com is live today. The full platform — the registry, the case management, the matching system — is in development. I want to be precise about that distinction because it matters: what exists right now is the front door, not the building.
Why a registry, and why feeding-first
Most rescue efforts I've come across, in India and elsewhere, are reactive. Someone sees a dog in distress, posts about it, a handful of people respond, and then the thread goes quiet. There's no continuity, no record of which dogs have been seen, fed, treated, or need to be. 46 Dogs is an attempt to put structure underneath that instinct — a registry that tracks dogs, feeding patterns, medical status and outcomes over time, rather than one-off posts that vanish.
The sequence is deliberate: Feed, then Rescue, then Rehome. Feed means structured, regular feeding — not a single act of charity, but a maintained routine that keeps a dog alive and trackable. Rescue means partnering with vets, shelters and volunteers, and building the medical, shelter and rehabilitation infrastructure that intervention actually requires. Rehome is the tech layer that comes last — matching dogs with permanent homes once the earlier stages have done their job. You can't skip to rehoming a dog that was never fed or treated. The order isn't a slogan, it's the actual dependency chain.
What's actually being built
On the frontend, 46 Dogs is built on Next.js, React, TypeScript and Tailwind — the same front-end discipline we use across the FourSix46® ecosystem. The backend runs on FastAPI and Python, with MySQL as the database. We're using LLMs where they genuinely help — processing unstructured reports, for instance — and Python multiprocessing where the workload needs it, such as handling volume across feeding and case records.
For communication, we're using Brevo for email, and Firebase Cloud Messaging is planned for push notifications, though it isn't live yet — I'd rather say that plainly than imply it's further along than it is. Stripe is integrated for payments, because donations and support will need a real, secure path once that side of the platform is ready.
None of this is exotic. It's the same kind of stack Stack46 would use for any serious client project — because that's exactly what 46 Dogs is treated as internally: a real platform being built with real engineering discipline, not a side project.
What 46 Dogs is not
46 Dogs operates under FourSix46® Global Ltd. It is not a registered charity. I want that stated as clearly here as anywhere else on the site, because I think vagueness on this point is worse than the plain fact. It doesn't change the intent behind the work, but it does mean I'm not going to describe it in language that implies a status it doesn't have.
It's also not funded by its own commercial activity, and it never will be — that's covered in more depth elsewhere, but the short version is that FourSix46®'s commercial ventures fund 46 Dogs, specifically so that welfare decisions are never shaped by a revenue incentive.
A dog that isn't fed today doesn't get to wait for a better platform.
Rule 46
There's a line I keep coming back to when people ask why this venture exists at all inside a company that also builds software agencies and courier platforms: "They cannot say they are hungry. Someone has to be the voice for those who have none." I said that, and I still mean it. It's the only reason the sequence — feed, rescue, rehome — starts where it does, and it's the only reason the platform is being built at all, even before it has a single user.
If you're expecting metrics here — dogs fed, cases resolved, users onboarded — you won't find them, because they don't exist yet. What exists is a live landing page, a real technical build in progress, and a mission that's been ordered correctly from the start. That's what I can honestly report today, and I'd rather report that than anything more impressive-sounding and untrue.
